Treatment of schizophrenia. In patients who initially responded to treatment, olanzapine has been shown to be effective in maintaining clinical improvement over the long term. Olanzapine is indicated for the treatment of moderate to severe manic episodes. Olanzapine is indicated for the prevention of recurrence in patients with bipolar disorder who have previously responded to olanzapine treatment during a manic episode.
